WGFriends is a social network focused on the smaller games in the
online world.
So what kinds of games fit into this category, you ask?
-
PBBGs (persistent browser-based games)
PBBGs are driven by ever-advancing technologies in browser-centric gaming.
-
MUDs/MUSHs/MU*s
MUDs are the granddaddies of the modern MMO's, and are still flourishing and growing in complexity
and design.
-
Play-by-Post (forum, e-mail, etc.) games
PbP's may or may not have an actual game "mechanics" system. By and large, they are purely role-played, and offer incredibly
rich experiences.
- Even pen-and-paper type folks are welcome here!
Features for game owners AND players to make use of:
-
Automatic Character Profiles -- Check it Out!
Users can add the games they play to their profiles and then add characters -- sort of "mini-profiles" -- for those games.
If the game owner has enabled it, these profiles can be automatically loaded from the game!
-
Groups for clans, fanclubs, general discussion, and more
Anyone at all can add a group, tied to a game or not, for just about any subject. Access to these
groups can be controlled by the group owner, so you can restrict it to only the people who
play a game, invitation-only, etc.
-
Free forums for EVERY game and group on WGFriends
Every game and group will have its own forum at WGFriends, available only to those who
play the game or belong to the group, and self-moderated.
-
Weekly and overall rankings for the games you love most!
We're developing a rankings system that aims to be fair and objective, allowing every game out
there a chance at reaching the top of the rankings without being swamped to the bottom
of the list by those games that already have 50,000 players.
